The word bank comes from the Old Italian word banco, which, in the 12th century, was used to indicate the benches onto which bankers made transactions. (Oxford Journals, 1855) Since then, banks have undergone drastic changes reflecting the development of society and, today, they offer many services in different sectors and have become necessary for everyday life, from making small payments and withdrawals to large business transactions.  As the result of this banks have grown in size and number.
